【摘要】:Thedeterminationofengineoilvolatilityat371x00B0;C(700x00B0;F)isarequirementinsomelubricantspecifications.ThistestmethodisintendedasanalternativetoTestMethodsD5800andtheNoackmethodforthedeterminationofengineoilvolatility(CECL-40x2013;93).ThedataobtainedfromthistestmethodarenotdirectlyequivalenttoTestMethodD5800.Thecalculatedresultsoftheoilvolatilityestimationbythistestmethodcanbebiasedbythepresenceofadditives(polymericmaterials),whichmaynotcompletelyelutefromthegaschromatographiccolumn,orbyheavierbaseoilsnotcompletelyelutingfromthecolumn.Theresultsofthistestmethodmayalsonotcorrelatewithotheroilvolatilitymethodsfornonhydrocarbonsyntheticoils.Thistestmethodcanbeusedonlubricantproductsnotwithinthescopeofothertestmethodsusingsimulateddistillationmethodologies,suchasTestMethodD2887.1.1Thistestmethodcoversanestimationoftheamountofengineoilvolatilizedat371x00B0;C(700x00B0;F).1.1.1Thistestmethodcanalsobeusedtoestimatetheamountofoilvolatilizedatanytemperaturebetween126and371x00B0;C,ifsodesired.1.2Thistestmethodislimitedtosampleshavinganinitialboilingpoint(IBP)greaterthan126x00B0;C(259x00B0;F)orthefirstcalibrationpointandtosamplescontaininglubricantbaseoilswithendpointslessthan615x00B0;C(1139x00B0;F)orthelastn-paraffinsinthecalibrationmixture.Byusingsomeinstrumentsandcolumns,itispossibletoextendtheusefulrangeofthetestmethod.1.3Thistestmethodusestheprinciplesofsimulateddistillationmethodology.1.4Thistestmethodmaybeappliedtobothlubricantoilbasestocksandfinishedlubricantscontainingadditivepackages.Theseadditivepackagesgenerallycontainhighmolecularweight,nonvolatilecomponentsthatdonotelutefromthechromatographiccolumnunderthetestconditions.Thecalculationprocedureusedinthistestmethodassumesthatallofthesampleelutesfromthecolumnandisdetectedwithuniformresponse.Thisassumptionisnottrueforsampleswithnonvolatileadditives,andapplicationofthistestmethodundersuchconditionswillyieldresultshigherthanexpected.Forthisreason,resultsbythistestmethodarereportedasareapercentofoil.1.5ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsareprovidedforinformationonly.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
